It's been a while!

So evidently, as some of you may observe, it has been a long while since I've posted anything on this blog. To put it bluntly, I've been having my IGCSE examinations and I really had to focus on that for a while. Nevertheless I'm done with my IGCSE's and so you can expect a lot more posts from now on.

Of course, since it is August, my results would have come out. Oddly, it did, and I must say, I am strangely proud of my results! Without further ado, for my IGCSE's, I received 10A*'s and 1B (which, by the way, was for French). For those who are curious as to which subjects I took, here are my results for each subject:

  1. Additional Mathematics  - A*
  2. Physics - A*
  3. Mathematics - A*
  4. Biology - A*
  5. Chemistry - A*
  6. History - A*
  7. Geography - A*
  8. ICT - A*
  9. English - A*
  10. English Literature - A*
  11. French - B

So, there we go! That pretty much sums up why I have been dormant for about a year and a half!

Highly Sensitive Nanowire transistor Arrays?

Image
Recently I've been looking into  http://physicsworld.com , an excellent website for figuring out the fatness of Schrodinger's Cat, recently posted about a light-weight array of nano-wires which are about as sensitive the skin.  Immediately I thought, hey, are the any defining units for sensitivity or is it just a feeling. Then, obviously,I searched the internet. So guess what? There are no units and its merely a comparison. You can't say, that thing is 1000 sensons sensitive, but, what you can say is, that is 1000 times more sensitive than that leaf. So great, its a comparison, but take a second to wonder how they make the comparison, what defines it, how do they find out how sensitive a thing is? The answer is a some of you may have guessed, it's the time that the surface, may it be artificial or natural, takes to react to a certain stimuli. For example if I prodded the skin of a mouse, the time it takes to sense that and react effectively is...

Super-Cooling Water...

Image
Well, this is my very first post and I've decided to talk about something about something interesting. So recently I've been watching 1Veritasium, an excellent YouTube channel by the way, which talks about really fun Physics topics. So today I watched their video about super-cooled water. Curiosity punching me in the gut, so I rushed and placed a bottle of pure water into the freezer. So this time, while I'm waiting, I've taken it as my responsibility to explain what super-cooled water experiment is all about. So basically, water usually freezes at 0 Celsius and the process of super-cooling is a procedure which tries to bring the temperature of a fluid, in this case water's, below its freezing point without it solidifying.  Now the cool thing is fluids in general cannot freeze without nucleation points, or it needs places for crystals to rapidly forms so that it can freeze. Usually the nucleation points are around impurities present in the fluid. This proble...
